Over the years, Kathy Dodd and Stacey Pigott of Wilmette, IL have watched their neighbors rally around them as their children have struggled with epilepsy. Neighbors have cooked meals, babysat, and offered moral support while witnessing firsthand the trials and tribulations that families affected by epilepsy endure.
When Kathy and Stacey set out to organize a fundraiser to benefit CURE and support pediatric epilepsy research, they knew that they wanted to plan an event that would not only honor their children, but also celebrate and extend thanks for their community’s support. With the help of twenty committee members, what started out as a concept for a block party grew into “Rock the Block”—a hugely successful event with 400 guests in attendance, a raffle, silent auction, video presentation, and music provided by a ‘70s disco band.
Kathy and Stacey credit the event’s success to the community and volunteer support they received. “We accomplished so much because of each and every one of them.” Proceeds from this fundraiser will fund multiple grants in honor of Stacy Dodd and Evan Pigott.
Thank you to the “Rock the Block” Committee for their dedication and hard work on behalf of this cause:
