CURE - Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy It's Time We Found a CURE CURE Epilepsy Research

CURE Crew members are making a difference all over the United States by hosting bake sales, swim-a-thons, golf outings, concerts, and much more. By using your own talents, you can lead an event that raises awareness and important funds for research in epilepsy.

STEP 1: Check out our Fundraiser’s Toolkit
This all-inclusive guide walks you through the basic steps of hosting an event for CURE!

STEP 2: Consider the basics
Who, what, where, and when? Who will you recruit to help you? What would you like your event to look like? Where are some possible locations that the event can be held? When would you like to host the event? Check out some of our upcoming events for inspiration.

STEP 3: Contact CURE’s Outreach Coordinator
Jillian Siar will help you develop a plan to ensure your CURE event is a success.

Event Ideas:

Walk, Run, Ride or Hike CURE Golf Tournament
Walk Run Ride or Hike   Golf Tournament

Start a family fun run in your community (include a theme, like The Cupid Chase 5K, above), establish a bike race, or hike up a mountain!

Find a local golf course and connect with their manager.  Many courses offer discounted rates for non-profit events (Drive for CURE, 2012 event pictured above).  Enlist some golf buddies to help with the event planning.

Spinning/Indoor Cycling CURE Cocktails

Worried about the weather? Indoor events like spinning (like the Fly for Faith 2013 event, above) can take place, rain or shine. A great workout for a great cause!

Invite friends and family to a very Happy Hour—enjoy hors d’oeuvres and wine while raising vital funds for epilepsy research. The above photo was taken at CURE’s Cedar Rapids benefit.

Another great indoor (or outdoor) activity—swimming! Grab some friends and dive right in to this fundraiser. Here our Hugh-A-Thon boys pause for a quick photo, March, 2013.

Partner with your favorite boutique for a shop-a-thon (like the p.45 event in 2011, above). It’s a great way to raise funds while helping a local business!

Still not sure how to begin? Email Jillian Siar, CURE’s Outreach Coordinator, to set up a time to chat about the possibilities for your CURE fundraiser. Thank you for being part of the fight to find a cure for the epilepsies!
