CURE seeks novel research projects that will address the goals of “no seizures/no side effects.” This program awards seed grants to researchers submitting innovative proposals that will provide new directions for epilepsy therapy, prevention and, ultimately, a cure.
We specifically encourage studies that may not be currently fundable by other agencies, such as the NIH, because of their preliminary or unconventional nature.
Eligibility: This award is available to both established and early career investigators*. International applicants are welcome.
*Generally, early career investigators are university faculty at the assistant professor level (or hold an equivalent position in a non-university research organization), and are within seven years of completion of graduate, professional, or research/clinical fellowship training. In exceptional cases, scientists at the postdoctoral level may be eligible for this award.
Amount: Requests may be made up to $50,000 a year. CURE gives priority to requests of one year. Applicants may request funding for two years; CURE will make determination based on scientific merit and availability of funding. Funding may not exceed a total of $100,000 for two years ($50,000 per year). Receipt of the second year of funding is contingent upon a successful review of the first year of work.
