Jeanne Donalty

Jeanne Donalty has served on the CURE Board of Directors since 2003. She has been the primary coordinator of several fundraising events, most recently organizing the 2009 Christopher Donalty CURE Benefit in Utica, NY.

She was also instrumental in the establishment of CURE’s Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP) research program. In 2002, Donalty’s 21-year-old son Christopher died from SUDEP. Since that time, she has been a devoted spokesperson for increased research in epilepsy and especially SUDEP. Donalty was featured in the July 4, 2008 Science magazine article, “When Death Strikes Without Warning,” where she sheds essential light on the devastating effects of SUDEP and the need for increased awareness.

Donalty is the recipient of two prestigious awards, in large part due to her inspiring dedication to increasing epilepsy awareness and research. In June 2008, she was named a New York State Woman of Distinction. Sponsored by the New York State Senate, this award recognizes the outstanding achievements of women whose contributions have benefited their communities, state, and nation as a whole. In July 2008, Donalty was named a HealthFriend of the Year by HealthFriends, Inc., who honored her for her commitment to the betterment of people in need.

Donalty received her Bachelors degree from Good Counsel College. She worked in the office of Congressman Sherwood Boehlert (R-NY) for 19 years, most recently serving as director of his district offices. She currently lives in Utica, NY with her husband, Judge Barry Donalty. She has three children, Alison, Lauren, and Christopher.
