Mental Health Awareness Week

Sunday, October 3, 2021 - Saturday, October 9, 2021

One-third of people with epilepsy suffer from some form of psychiatric disorder, of which anxiety and depression are the most common.

October 3-9 is Mental Health Awareness Week, an opportunity for the epilepsy community to raise awareness and challenge stigma about mental health concerns specific to people with epilepsy.

To learn more about epilepsy and mental health, watch or listen to this Seizing Life episode where community member and CURE Epilepsy Board chair Kelly Cervantes speaks with Dr. Andres Kanner as he discusses the importance of considering the psychological impacts of an epilepsy diagnosis on both patients and families, or our CURE Epilepsy webinar in which Dr. Andres Kanner visits with CURE Epilepsy’s Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Laura Lubbers and shares how to identify and treat episodes of anxiety and depression in people with epilepsy.
