SUMMARY:Webinar — Epilepsy Service Dogs: The Science Behind the Sniff
DESCRIPTION:Register here \nOverview\nEpilepsy service dogs are trained to assist individuals with epilepsy by providing support during and after seizures. They can be trained to alert their handler to an oncoming seizure\, provide physical assistance during a seizure\, and help with tasks like retrieving medication or a phone afterwards.  Some dogs may even develop the ability to predict and react in advance to an oncoming seizure once they are placed with their recipient. \nAs we recognize Service Dog Awareness Month this September\, this webinar will provide attendees with a deeper understanding of the two types of epilepsy service dogs — seizure alert dogs and seizure rescue dogs.  Additionally\, viewers of this webinar can expect to learn more about: \n\nResearch that has been conducted on how and why seizure alert dogs are able to provide warnings to those living with epilepsy and their loved ones.\nThe potential for further research surrounding seizure alert dogs and their future role in seizure detection.\nWhat steps someone can take if they are interested in an epilepsy service dog for themselves or a loved one.\n\nWebinar Speaker\nOur presenter is Jennifer Arnold\, who founded Canine Assistants\, a service dog school located just north of Atlanta\, Georgia\, in 1991. In her work with Canine Assistants\, Jennifer developed the Bond-Based Approach® to living with and loving dogs. She is the New York Times bestselling author of Through a Dog’s Eyes\, In a Dog’s Heart\, and Love Is All You Need and the creator of the We Leash®. She and her husband\, Kent Bruner\, DVM and their son\, Chase\, share their home in Milton\, Georgia with a myriad of animal companions. \nModerator\n \nOur moderator is Channing Seideman\, the inaugural recipient of our Community Enrichment Program. The Community Enrichment Program\, a partnership between CURE Epilepsy and UCB\, Inc.\, aims to improve the lives of individuals with epilepsy by providing opportunities for professional skill development and meaningful employment. \nChanning\, who has spent the last year as an intern with CURE Epilepsy\, has had an epilepsy service dog by her side since 2010. Her first companion was Georgie\, a seizure-response dog\, who walked her down the aisle at her high-school graduation. Her current canine companion\, Bishop\, is the great nephew of Georgie and is trained as a seizure-alert dog. \nYou can find more information on CURE Epilepsy research webinars here. \nSponsor\nThis webinar is generously supported with funding from UCB\, Inc.\, Founding Partner of the CURE Epilepsy Community Enrichment Program. \nRegister here - Webex Password: - Webex Password:

SUMMARY:4th Annual Reagan's Run
DESCRIPTION:Proud Member of the CURE Epilepsy Run/Walk Series\nEvent Details\nGet ready for a fun-filled\, family-friendly event! The 4th Annual Reagan’s Run\, a 5K run\, 1 mile walk\, and kids dash will occur on Sunday\, September 21\, 2025\, at Wilson Farm Park in Wayne PA. \nThis event is hosted by The Rea of Hope for a Cure Foundation and inspired by thirteen-year-old Reagan Monast\, who lives with intractable epilepsy. The foundation is on a mission to support and connect those affected by epilepsy in Chester\, Delaware\, and Montgomery Counties\, along with all 3.4 million Americans living with epilepsy. \nThis 5K\, 1 mile walk\, and kids dash aims to raise awareness and funds for epilepsy research. Proceeds will go to Rea of Hope and CURE Epilepsy. Reagan’s Run has raised nearly $86\,000 since it began in 2021\, which has gone directly to epilepsy research. \nReagan’s Run will have a raffle table\, snacks\, and\, most importantly\, lots of smiles! This is a perfect opportunity to spend quality time with your loved ones while supporting a great cause. \nThank you to our partners UCB\, SK Life Science\, and Neurelis. \nRegister Here \nThe Inspiration\, Reagan Monast\n\n\nAt 15 months\, Reagan had her first seizure. Since then\, she has been diagnosed with epilepsy and cerebral palsy\, and she has had countless seizures. Her life has been filled with seizures\, countless medications\, hospital visits\, loss of cognition\, and the medical ketogenic diet. But her life has also been filled with hope and resilience that is beyond astonishing. Reagan\, at her age\, has endured more hardship than most adults due in a lifetime\, yet she handles it all with grace and a smile. \nReagan amazes her parents every day. She accepts that epilepsy is a large part of her life\, but never lets it dictate how she lives her life\, with positivity\, perseverance\, and kindness. Reagan has become an advocate not only for herself but for other children living with epilepsy. She uses every opportunity to educate others by putting on awareness events\, talking to peers and even helped create a book based on her life. \nRegister Here
