My warrior of a sister, Martha, has had epilepsy since she was 11 years old and is now 36 years old. She has had to try multiple medications sometimes with adverse reactions and a hospitalization due to the adverse reactions and has had two surgeries in order to try and control her seizures. She has a vagus nerve stimulator and a deep brain stimulator and takes medication three times a day to help control her seizures. She also has cerebral palsy. She is an inspiration to me. Whatever she does she gives it her all.
A cure would mean the world to my sister, my family and I as then my sister wouldn’t have to worry when a seizure would happen, what may trigger a seizure, she would have more independence like being able to drive and work, etc. Also, a cure would mean no one else like her, would have to deal with all that comes with epilepsy anymore.
