Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy (CURE) is committed to safeguarding the privacy of its users. Information gathered by CURE is used to monitor the effectiveness of our Site, personalize your Internet experience, and respond to your questions and requests. This statement explains our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way the information you provide us is collected and used. CURE is the sole owner of and the only organization that uses the personal information collected on this Site.
Collection of Personal Information
You may browse our Site without giving us any personally identifiable information about yourself. If you elect to register with CURE to join our mailing list and receive updates and additional information, you will be asked to provide personal information that may include among other things your name, address, e-mail address, phone number, and areas of interest. This information tells us about the people who use our Site, helps us tailor the Site to our audience, and allows us to better respond to you and your desired level of involvement with CURE. This information is securely stored internally and accessed only when we correspond with our mailing list periodically during the year, or when we are working to compile content and information for our Site that we think our audience might be interested in.
Use of Personally Identifiable Information
CURE will not sell or otherwise transfer or disclose your personally identifiable information to third parties except as may be required by federal, state or local law, or by exigent circumstances. We may use your personally identifiable information to compile and display content and information that we think you might be interested in. CURE also may use your profile information on an aggregate basis—without personal identifiers—to develop and display new features and content for the Site and to perform statistical analyses of user behavior (on an aggregate basis) in order to measure interest in and use of the various areas of the Site.
We will not sell, share or trade our donors' names or personal information with any other entity, nor send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations. This policy applies to all information received by CURE, both online and offline, on any Platform ("Platform", includes the CURE website and social media channels), as well as any electronic, written, or oral communications. To the extent any donations are processed through a third-party service provider, our donors’ information will only be used for purposes necessary to process the donation.
CURE collects the following information through our secure online donation page: name, address, e-mail address, phone number, and credit card or direct debit information. This personally identifiable information is used to acknowledge receipt of your donation for your tax records and to include you on CURE’s mailing list. When you submit a contribution in honor or in memory of someone and request that an acknowledgement be sent to another individual or a family, we will use the name and address of that individual or family for acknowledgement purposes only.
We care about the security of your transactions and use industry standard SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption technology to safeguard your credit card information. We use high-grade encryption and the secure https protocol to communicate with your browser software, which guards against interception of the credit card information you give us. We also employ several different security techniques to protect your personally identifiable information from unauthorized access by users inside and outside the organization. The Web servers for CURE are located in a locked, secure environment, and computer systems are maintained in accordance with industry standards to secure information. You should be aware, however, that "perfect security" does not exist on the Internet, and third parties may unlawfully intercept or access transmissions or private communications.

CURE reserves the right at all times to disclose any information uploaded to or appearing on the Site to the extent necessary to comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process, subpoena or governmental request.
