Purple Day for Epilepsy Awareness Around the World

March 25 - March 26

When is Epilepsy Awareness Day?

On March 25th, celebrate Purple Day For Epilepsy Awareness Around the World. Then, on March 26th, celebrate Purple Day®!

What is Purple Day?

Purple Day is an international event held annually on March 26th to raise awareness about epilepsy, a neurological condition that affects the brain and can cause seizures. The goal of Purple Day is to increase public understanding of epilepsy, reduce the stigma associated with it, and support people living with the condition.

The event was founded in 2008 by Cassidy Megan, a young girl from Canada who has epilepsy herself. She chose the color purple because lavender is often associated with epilepsy, symbolizing solitude and the struggles people with the condition often face.

On Purple Day, people are encouraged to wear purple clothing or accessories, organize events, and share information about epilepsy to help spread awareness. The initiative has grown globally, with participation from individuals, schools, organizations, and businesses around the world.
