Rob spoke with us at Epilepsy Awareness Day at Disneyland in 2019 about his journey with epilepsy. Rob began having seizures in high school, but was afraid to come forward to his loved ones or medical professionals. Shortly after high school, he sought medical care and received his diagnosis. Since 1999, Rob has had four epilepsy surgeries in the hopes of stopping his seizures. He now has two Neuropace devices implanted in his brain.
After having these devices implanted, Rob had a brief period of seizure freedom but is back to having monthly seizures, and it takes him 5 to 7 days to recover from each seizure. Rob’s experience shows how important it is to research not just for treatments for seizures, but for a cure.
Hear from Rob during this interview, conducted by CURE Epilepsy Board Member and Seizing Life podcast host Kelly Cervantes.
