Hear this personal epilepsy story from an amazing young woman who is determined not to let seizures overwhelm her goals and ambitions.

Kiara details her first seizure and subsequent diagnosis of juvenile myoclonic epilepsy, and explains her frustration with the lack of epilepsy information provided to her and her family by medical professionals. She also shares how her initial resistance to an epilepsy support group gave way to feelings of connection and acceptance, and helped her overcome embarrassment and shame about her seizures, find her voice, share her experiences, and become an advocate for epilepsy awareness and education. Finally, Kiara talks about her first year at college where she is encountering increased seizure activity and new academic challenges, but also comfort and support from new friends.
