Walter M. Kelly is Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer of the Calamos Funds and Senior Vice President and Co-Chief Compliance Officer of Calamos Advisors at Calamos Investments, a leading alternatives manager with $46.9B in assets under management.
Prior to joining Calamos Investments in 2025, Walter served as General Counsel for Cedar Pine, a private investment firm specializing in strategic, long-term assets with expertise as operators and investors in healthcare, finance and other industries. He also served as Corporate Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for SBB Research Group, a Chicago-based investment management firm with over $2B in assets under management. Before his time at Cedar Pine and SBB Research Group, Walter served as Managing Director and Chief Compliance Officer Funds at Nuveen Investments, where he oversaw the compliance program for a complex with approximately 155 funds and $180B in AUM.
Walter served as Trustee on the Village Board for the Village of Kenilworth, Illinois from 2021-2025, where he chaired the Finance Committee throughout his term and served on the Public Safety Committee and Public Works Committee.
Walter was raised in the Chicago area. He attended Bucknell University and earned a BA in English in 1992. He received his Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1998 and his MBA from University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 2003.
Walter’s mother, Barbara Kelly, was involved in the foundation of CURE Epilepsy and served as a long-time Board member and member of the Scientific Advisory Committee. Walter is joining CURE Epilepsy’s board to continue his mother’s and CURE Epilepsy’s fight for a cure for people like his brother who suffers from epilepsy. Walter resides in Kenilworth, Illinois with his wife, Mindy, and their two daughters.
