Walter M. Kelly is General Counsel for Cedar Pine, a private investment firm specializing in strategic, long-term assets with expertise as operators and investors in healthcare, finance and other industries. Walter also serves as Corporate Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for SBB Research Group, a Chicago-based investment management firm. Prior to his time at Cedar Pine and SBB Research Group, Walter served as Managing Director and Chief Compliance Officer Funds at Nuveen Investments.
Walter currently serves as Trustee on the Village Board for the Village of Kenilworth, Illinois, where he also chairs the Finance Committee and sits on the Public Safety Committee.
Walter was raised in the Chicago area. He attended Bucknell University and earned a BA in English in 1992. He received his Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1998 and his MBA from University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 2003.
Walter’s mother, Barbara Kelly, was involved in the foundation of CURE Epilepsy and served as a long-time Board member and member of the Scientific Advisory Committee. Walter is joining CURE Epilepsy’s board to continue his mother’s and CURE Epilepsy’s fight for a cure for people like his brother who suffers from epilepsy. Walter resides in Kenilworth, Illinois with his wife, Mindy, and their two daughters, Elizabeth and Anne.
