Proud Member of the CURE Epilepsy Run/Walk Series
On Sunday, November 22, 2026, join a 2.6-mile fun run AND a one-mile walk through Lakewood Ranch, Florida to raise awareness and funds for epilepsy research! One in 26 people will develop epilepsy in their lifetime, and our 2.6-mile fun run route brings awareness to this fact. This is a family-friendly event, with music, snacks, and lots of smiles!
The event will begin at 10:00 AM at the Sapphire Point Amenity Center, 5970 Bluestar Court, Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Additional details for the event will be emailed to participants prior to race day!

Sean’s Story: The Heart Behind the Shuffle
Sean is nearly eight years old, a joyful first grader, a devoted football fan, and the inspiration behind Seany’s Shuffle. Sean uses a wheelchair and an AAC communication device, but neither defines the energy, humor, determination, and unmistakable presence Sean brings to every day.
Sean’s medical journey began at seven months old, when Sean was diagnosed with infantile spasms, one of the most serious forms of pediatric epilepsy. Sean underwent two intensive rounds of hormone and steroid treatment. Testing later identified the underlying cause of the epilepsy: Menkes disease, a rare genetic disorder.
For three years, Sean underwent copper therapy while continuing medications, regular blood draws, EEGs, specialist appointments, and prolonged hospital stays. Menkes has no cure. For Sean and children like Sean, controlling seizures is essential to creating the opportunity to grow, learn, communicate, connect, and thrive.
Sean has now been seizure-free for more than five years.
A Family and Community Moving Together
Today, Sean continues to grow and thrive with the support of family, teachers, therapists, physicians, and community. Sean loves football, cheering for favorite teams, spending time with little brother Danny, and making people smile. Sean’s life is a daily reminder that every breakthrough matters and every child deserves the chance to reach the next milestone.
Why We Shuffle
The Flood family supports CURE Epilepsy because research is the path to better treatments and, ultimately, cures. Seany’s Shuffle brings our community together to celebrate Sean, honor every person affected by epilepsy, and fund the scientific progress families urgently need.
Over the past two years, Seany’s Shuffle has raised over $82,000 with all proceeds benefitting CURE Epilepsy. As they prepare for the third annual event, they hope to build on that generosity and welcome even more families, friends, neighbors, and supporters.
