Dr. Kurrasch’s team has identified a potential new drug, SN‑2000, that acts on a protein inside neurons called phosphodiesterase 4B (PDE4B), to stabilize epileptic brain activity. Studies show that SN‑2000 reduces seizures across many animal models in addition to improvements in memory, learning, and anxiety– related behaviors. The goal of this research is to complete safety testing to confirm that SN‑2000 is well‑tolerated and to determine safe dosing levels for its future development as a treatment for people with epilepsy.
