Hi my name is Ali Young, and I got diagnosed with epilepsy at age 9. I also have a genetic condition known as TCF-20 that I struggle with. I am on the modified Atkins diet, going to John’s Hopkins, and working at Publix. My parents are trying to build a community where I’m from in Wilmington, NC for neurodiverse people like me. I am involved in the Loop-to-Loop Walk for Epilepsy started by Isabella Cox in Wilmington, NC. Isabella Cox is a big advocate for people who struggle with epilepsy, including the two of us, which is why I choose to participate in it myself. I am thankful for the support from my family and from my amazing team at John’s Hopkins who support me and have my back.
CURE Epilepsy taught me about the modified Atkins diets and ketogenic diets. It was hard finding stuff for me specifically, so my parents helped me connect with people who could help me.
