Born on 12/26/2018, our daughter Amaliyah (Maya) started seizures at 10 days of age. A year spent in hospitals, being misdiagnosed and then diagnosed with SCN2A, it’s been a long road understanding how to take care of our beautiful child.
Maya is thriving through the correct medication, family and school support and we are excited to see what each day brings. She hasn’t had a seizure since 2019. The effects of the damage that the seizures has on her brain doesn’t hold Amaliyah back. Her tenacity and zest for life pushes us as parents to be the best we can for Maya.
