My daughter Mariah Martinez was diagnosed with epilepsy at age 12. The struggles she has faced—including bullying at school and difficulties in relationships due to misunderstanding—have been incredibly challenging.
A cure for epilepsy would be life-changing for both of us, and for so many others. Mariah is the strongest person I’ve ever met. One of her biggest dreams is to drive someday. She’s about to turn 25 and still hasn’t been able to because of her diagnosis of grand mal seizures.
There are so many different types of seizures in the world. Epilepsy awareness needs to be everywhere.
