Epilepsy has been a burden in my life for the past 10 years. I have no license, a missing tooth, and two shoulders that have had a total of seven surgeries. They constantly pop out on both sides. It takes me 40 minutes to get them warmed up. I was using drugs, so I went to rehab, and now I can’t use those drugs, but it’s crazy how much I do need them. I don’t have a life, I haven’t been able to take my nephew out for ice cream, I can’t even afford the bus. I lost my tooth, and then lost the second one, and broke my nose.
Driving, memory loss, restrictions on work, medications—you don’t know when you’ll have a seizure, and you don’t know how it will happen or how you will fall. I fell forward and broke my nose. One tooth is missing, and the other is cracked. I had no idea where I was going, and when I woke up, I was in the Washington Heights bus terminal, and someone was already digging in my pockets. It was scary. Please help.
It’s hard to work. I haven’t received any benefits or anything. I had EBT, but they took it away in 12/2020, and since then I’ve been struggling. I take a lot of medications, and at certain times I can’t concentrate. I must be home. I haven’t driven in 10 years. How am I supposed to survive? I have no family. I’m epileptic with multiple other problems.
