My name is Nathaniel but I mostly go by Nathan. I was dignosed with epilepsy when I was a baby. I have a rare kind of epilepsy because it is caused by me having different genes than normal. My different genes also make it hard for me to do things other kids do like school and sports and doing what adults tell me.
The types of seizures I have are a lot. I have tonic clonic grand mal seizures which are like what everyone thinks are seizures. They are very scary and after I get confused and tired and sometimes I have to sleep for a whole day. Then I also have drop seizures and they make me fall and get hurt. One time a seizure makes me break my nose and that makes me very sad.
I have focal seizures also that make me stop thinking right and I don’t know what is happening. I used to throw up after them but now I usually don’t which is good because that was emberassing. Last I have Myo clonic seizures. They make me jerk very fast. Myo clonic seizures are not so bad unless they happen many at once together. I want epilepsy to get a cure so I can live a healthy and normal life without epilepsy. So I want to show my story so other people can know what it’s like to have epilepsy and they will want to help make a cure too.
