My 3-year-old-daughter passed away 2/2/26 from SUDEP. Taryn was born with a condition that caused epilepsy. She was on 7 seizure meds, but was still having daily focal seizures.
The morning that Taryn left us, she had a seizure around 3:30 AM that caused her asthma to flare up. When her feeding pump was finishing at 6:45 AM, I walked back in to check on her and found her unconscious. Despite attempts to resuscitate her, Taryn did not survive the effects of the seizure.
I share her story for epilepsy and SUDEP awareness so other families know they are not alone. Taryn was a bright light in her short time and has made such an impact on the local epilepsy community.
A cure for epilepsy would mean no other family would have to deal with seizures and the possibility of losing a loved one.
