Megan’s Story

I was given hope

I was diagnosed with generalized petit mal epilepsy at the age of six. Upon diagnosis, I was given the hope that I would most likely “grow out of it.” However, it followed me into adulthood. At fourteen, after trying medication after medication, I eventually visited a specialist who, after about six years, was finally able to find the right combination of medications and hormone therapy to get me seizure free for over three years. I try not to let my restrictions get in the way of daily life. My short-term goals are to get my driver’s license and finally graduate in Fall 2023.
