New York, NY — [April 2] — CURE Epilepsy is proud to present CURE Epilepsy Takes Manhattan, an inspiring one-night-only event on May 4 at DRAMMA in New York City, featuring a reunion of original cast members from the Broadway hit American Idiot. The evening blends together an intimate program of music, storytelling, and meaningful conversation in support of life-changing epilepsy research.
The event will be hosted by Broadway star Miguel Cervantes (Hamilton on Broadway and in Chicago) and his wife, award-winning author, speaker and CURE Epilepsy board member Kelly Cervantes. The Cervantes’ personal journey losing their daughter Adelaide to epilepsy days before her fourth birthday has made them passionate champions of epilepsy research.
This year’s featured performers include an extraordinary lineup of Broadway stars from the original cast of American Idiot, reuniting on stage for this special evening: Rebecca Naomi Jones (Hadestown), Libby Winters (Almost Famous), Ben Thompson (Waitress), and Brian Johnson (original cast of Spring Awakening). They will be joined by Andrew Call (original cast of Groundhog Day), Van Hughes (original cast of Almost Famous), and Alysha Umphress (Scotland, PA) making this a rare gathering of acclaimed Broadway talent in an intimate setting.

CURE Epilepsy Takes Manhattan is more than a night of entertainment—it is a critical fundraiser supporting innovative, patient-focused research aimed at finding a cure for epilepsy. Funds raised directly fuel cutting-edge scientific initiatives designed to accelerate breakthroughs, improve treatments to change lives and ultimately, cure epilepsy.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with others who are passionate about making a difference in the epilepsy community. Through shared experiences and a collective commitment to progress, the evening highlights the impact of coming together for a common cause.
With a longstanding mission to fund research and drive progress toward a world without epilepsy, CURE Epilepsy continues to lead efforts that transform hope into action. CURE Epilepsy Takes Manhattan plays a vital role in sustaining that momentum and bringing together artists, advocates, and supporters for a common cause to ensure that no promising research goes unfunded.

CURE Epilepsy is a parent-founded, research-focused nonprofit committed to finding a cure for epilepsy. Epilepsy is a complex, often debilitating neurological disorder that will affect 1 in 26 Americans in their lifetime. Since 1998, we have invested in cutting-edge research and filled critical funding gaps in foundational science to expand our understanding of the underlying mechanisms of epilepsy and help us discover a cure. We have raised more than $100 million and funded over 300 epilepsy research projects — more than any other non-governmental organization in the United States. Working alongside our community of researchers and clinicians, we’ve invested in initiatives which have led to breakthroughs in the genetic diagnosis of epilepsy, potential treatments for infantile spasms, and a greater understanding of how we can prevent sudden death in epilepsy, among other advances. Research is our greatest hope of finding a cure and each discovery brings us closer to achieving freedom from seizures and medication side effects for people living with epilepsy. Join us as we lead the search for a cure. Learn more at cureepilepsy.org.
