CHICAGO, October 21, 2026 – CURE Epilepsy today commemorates SUDEP Action Day 2026 by honoring those lost to Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP), raising awareness of SUDEP risk, and mobilizing support for research aimed at preventing future deaths.
This year’s observance is especially meaningful as The Cameron Boyce Foundation joins the CURE Epilepsy family, strengthening a shared commitment to epilepsy research, SUDEP awareness, education, and community support.
To mark the occasion, CURE Epilepsy will ring the October 22 8:30AM CT opening bell at Cboe Global Markets in Chicago, which will be broadcast live on CNBC. Joining the ceremony will be board members, donors, supporters, and Maya Boyce, actress, advocate, and sister of the late Cameron Boyce, representing The Cameron Boyce Foundation.
“As we observe SUDEP Action Day, we remember the loved ones we have lost and recommit ourselves to finding answers,” said Beth Dean, Chief Executive Officer of CURE Epilepsy. “Bringing The Cameron Boyce Foundation into the CURE Epilepsy family expands our ability to raise awareness, fund research, and accelerate progress toward a future without epilepsy and SUDEP.”
As part of CURE Epilepsy’s October fundraising appeal, SK Life Science will match all gifts dollar for dollar up to $10,000, doubling the impact of every donation and helping advance research focused on SUDEP risk factors, biomarkers, and prevention.
Throughout October, CURE Epilepsy and The Cameron Boyce Foundation are partnering on initiatives designed to increase awareness, education, and advocacy around epilepsy and SUDEP.
Among these efforts, Karan Brar and Sophie Reynolds, actors, advocates, and hosts of The Cameron Boyce Foundation’s Now What podcast, will appear on CURE Epilepsy’s award-winning Seizing Life podcast. As two of Cameron’s closest friends, they continue to carry forward his legacy through conversations about epilepsy, SUDEP, grief, resilience, and community.
CURE Epilepsy is also joining a broad coalition of epilepsy and SUDEP organizations during #StopSUDEP Week (October 15-21). Led by the UK-based SUDEP Action, the campaign brings together advocacy groups, healthcare professionals, researchers, and families to turn awareness into action and ensure people affected by epilepsy have access to information and resources that can help #StopSUDEP.
Supporters can take part by sharing educational resources, participating in the #StopSUDEP campaign, listening to special episodes of Seizing Life, honoring loved ones affected by SUDEP, and making a donation through the matching gift challenge.
Together, these efforts will help transform awareness into action and move the epilepsy community closer to a future where no family experiences the tragedy of SUDEP.
