Before a drug can request approval from the FDA, it must be studied comprehensively in clinical trials. These trials are grouped into five separate phases. Each phase has a different purpose and helps answer a different scientific question.
The EXPAND Clinical Research Study is looking for study volunteers between the ages of 2 and 25 diagnosed with Childhood or Juvenile Absence Epilepsy. The study is researching an investigational medication that is believed to work differently from anti-epileptic medicines already approved for absence seizures. The investigational medication in this study has been approved in several countries by health authorities to treat a different type of seizure, called a partial-onset seizure (or focal onset seizures). It is hoped that the investigational medication might be a valuable additional treatment option for people with CAE and JAE in the future. To learn more, please visit www.expandstudy.com/cure
